We run hands-on classes so you can learn how to make your favourite pickles and ferments at home. Check out the Workshops page for upcoming dates.
Classes are hands-on and fun, and cover the basics of these timeless food preservation techniques including:
- What pickling is, why it works, and how to do it
- How to choose your ingredients and find creative expression through pickles!
- How to ‘can’ your pickles for the pantry shelf using items you’ve probably already got in your kitchen
- A (very brief) introduction to fermentation and how to make the best sauerkraut you’ve had yet
On the night, everyone will make a jar of mixed vinegar-based pickles plus a jar of fresh sauerkraut to take home. We will also wheel out our own pickles to snack on as we work.
Workshops are $100 per person, all materials included, and places are strictly limited so book early. Workshops are held in our cafe kitchen at 134 Unley Rd, Unley.
